Kosei Lore

Born in the depths of a large scrapyard, one that stretched for miles and miles in all directions — This nameless dog was once a feral hound, feared even by scavengers — It wasn’t born violent, as nothing is. But surviving in such a cruel place alone, to endure such suffering, it began to learn that it couldn’t rely on others. Many people saw the poor dog, as it desperately seeked out shelter, food or company. But these scavengers saw it only as a pest — something in the way between them and the gold they hoped to strike.
The hound wasn’t treated kindly by the humans they encountered and as it grew, it found that violence was the way of survival. After many times of tasting the glory that came from violence it slowly became obsessed with that rush — No longer wanting to just be strong to protect itself and survive but now itching for a way to prove it was above the filthy humans that it had grown to detest.
Soon it became a vicious creature that survived by tearing apart anything weaker than itself. Nobody knew where it came from, only that it’s piercing yellow eyes appeared in the dark before bodies disappeared. During a raid on an abandoned “junk shrine”, the mutt bit into a cursed object fused with the remains of a powerful witch — triggering punishment instead of power. It was forced into human form, a punishment for its greed; to struggle as and amongst the kind it had learned to loathe.Trapped in this new form, it kept habits and instincts it couldn’t get rid of — seeing every person as foe, baring its teeth when irked, licking wounds and so forth. Human speech felt awkward in its mouth, and social rules irritated it to no end. It lashed out fast, fought dirty, and treated kindness like an insult. To the cursed creature, people were selfish pack animals pretending otherwise. But surviving this dump as a human was harder than surviving it as a beast. Injuries linger. Hunger weakens. Worst of all loneliness becomes impossible to ignore.Reluctantly, it began traveling with others, trying to learn how to exist beside people instead of against them. Bit by bit, the savage edges dulled. It still snaps, still picks fights, still acts brutish — but it grows to work alongside others without being asked. It grows to coexist amongst other beings — Amongst people. At this point, what scares it most isn’t becoming weak.
It’s realizing it might actually want to belong somewhere.
As it travels with the group, the unnamed being finds a dilemma with having company, besides it's social ineptitude. There was simply no way to address them. With thorough thought from their peers the creature was given a name, Kosei, to mean “life” and “originality”.. fitting.

As time progressed the scrapyard waste wasn’t Ko’s “home” anymore, Joining the humans in their settlements. They studied the human’s behavior, lounging around and chatting amongst one another — watching media on bright screens and sometimes playing things to audiences watching from distant cities. Confused by it, they watched closely. Humans hadn’t any need for constantly being tense and alert, something foreign to Ko. But seeing those bright colors flash about they were drawn in. Reluctantly, they joined their crew, watching mindless slop and playing games along with them, eventually becoming semi-invested with the things on the screen.Finding themself entertained with this new interest, they found a content niche, streaming, which was different from the rest. Live and interactive. With that lingering competitiveness — the need to be good at everything, they found themselves figuring out their own ways of broadcast with help from their companions. From competitive games to quieter moments; over time streaming began feeling like something real; connection. For the first time, they yearned for people to look at them with fascination instead of fear, and despite how much they denied it, Kosei found themself returning frequently to the one pack they never expected to have — those watching from behind their screens. Yaken. (yaken no mure)
